Wet felting is a creative and enjoyable art that allows you to design and create your own unique piece of felt. A selection of felting workshops are offered, including how to make your own hat, wet felted hats, felt flowers, and felt and nuno felt scarves. These are all fun and creative projects where you can experiment with different colors and designs to make your piece of felt truly unique.
Jo offers one-day felt hat workshops where you will learn the art of wet felting and create a simple flower brooch along with a cloche, concertina, or small brimmed JAMB Hat using Australian fine merino wool.
The workshops are conducted in a fun, inviting, and inclusive manner with plenty of guidance and support. There is ample time to engage with your creative inner self, share stories and experiences with others, and inspire each other.
Experience level - Whether you are new to felting or experienced, this workshop is designed for everyone.
What to bring? 2 towels; all other materials and equipment will be provided.
Venues - Various venues are available, so check the calendar for upcoming workshops. If you have a small group of 10 to 12 people and would like to run your own workshop, reach out to Jo via email to organize your own session.
Other felt workshops, including flowers, angels, and felt and nuno felt scarves, are also on offer. Contact Jo for more information.

…..was a fun day on Saturday .. thanks.
Who would believe as a raw beginner I could walk out of your JAMB Hats felt hat making workshop with a wearable (albeit still damp) hat that fitted perfectly and looked great. ….. as was the case with every other workshop participant. One participant wore his hat from the moment it was finished and walked out at the end of the day with it still being worn.
Not an experience that is always guaranteed in one day workshops.
This workshop combines technique, design, process, problem-solving, and finishing details, plus marvelous drops of information throughout the course related to everything and anything textile.
Jo-Anne’s experience as a skilled felter, teacher, and milliner, along with her ability to multitask and gravitate around the class to solve individual problems and techniques, is very effective. Plus, she brings her own extensive range of hats in all styles, shapes, and colors, which are excellent examples to jump off from as new hat makers. No one misses out.
I highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in all things textile, including how to make your own hat using wools, silks, and alpaca—even if you think hats are not necessarily your thing, as you will be surprised.
Thanks, Jo-Anne, for providing a fun, productive, entertaining day focused on wet felting techniques. Sandy – Glen Innes
